Camillin Denny Architects were the exterior and interior Architects for the major refurbishment and extension of the Old Irish Club, a Grade II* Listed Building located in Eaton Square, central London.
The refurbishment reinstates the building as a rare example of a Thomas Cubitt single-family dwelling and includes substantial repairs following a period of several years unoccupied.

We have worked closely with Westminster Planning Authority and English Heritage to agree the scope of the works which will include a full fit out of the building to include 6-bedroom suites, 4 reception rooms, a swimming pool and spa as well as staff and utility accommodation.
Great care was taken to conserve, repair and enhance the fabric of the building which was in a poor state of repair due to neglect and water damage. This includes existing features such as the Cubitt original glass roof dome, internal and external moulded ornamentation, grand cantilever stone staircase, joinery and fireplaces, with materials and the detail of repairs matched to give a seamless appearance.
The interior refurbishment carefully balances the retention of the existing classical features within the remaining building while reinstating a luxurious feel to the building through the use of a carefully selected, high quality pallet of materials for finishes and fitted joinery. The pallet of materials and detailing used in the suites of rooms varies to suit the use and families tastes, while maintaining the overall harmony within the scheme.
The works took a total of five years to complete on site.
